SUMMARY OF RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

Umakanta Jena has been involved in generation of biofuels and value added chemicals by thermo chemical conversion of biomass feed stocks for more than one year. He was previously involved in research and development of agri-residues based syngas production technology for three years. As a graduate student, Mr. Jena is currently investigating the effect of sub-critical water pretreatment on the production of ethanol from different kinds of biomass. He is also involved in investigating the possibility of value added energy products from different kinds of feed stocks using sub-critical/supercritical water reaction technology.
